This month, we bid a heartfelt farewell to two distinguished members of our Board of Directors whose terms have come to a close. On behalf of the entire PCCE organization, we extend our deepest gratitude to President Kim S. Phipps and President Beth Paul for their outstanding leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to our mission and the communities we serve. Throughout their tenure, both leaders brought invaluable insight, integrity, and a deep dedication to advancing community-engaged learning. Their impact on PCCE—and the broader landscape of higher education and civic engagement—will be felt for years to come. President Beth Paul shared her appreciation in these words: “Many thanks to PCCE for enduring and advancing community-engaged learning at this critical time in our changing world. It has been an honor to serve on the PCCE board, especially at this transitional time. Dave Harker's driven leadership and an expanding board ensure that PCCE will continue to be a facilitator of partnership and learning for the public good. Thank goodness!”
President Kim S. Phipps reflected on her journey with a spirit of gratitude and vision: “Serving as Messiah University's president for the past 20 years has been the honor of a lifetime. I have been energized and inspired by students, challenged and encouraged by faculty and staff, and blessed by friendships with many parents, donors, and friends. As a PCCE board member, I have seen the larger impact of community engagement and student service learning, and I am grateful for this organization's good work. May we all carry on in the important task of investing in our communities, building bridges, fostering the common good, and finding ways to bring hope in a divided culture.”
As President Phipps steps into retirement, we not only mark the close of a remarkable chapter but celebrate the enduring legacy she leaves behind—one of vision, compassion, and transformational impact. Her leadership has helped shape PCCE’s direction and strengthen our foundation for the future. Congratulations on your retirement, President Phipps.
